I need to use CQ Researcher or Opposing Viewpoints to find a recent news story. Can you please help me?

Answer

Accessing the library's online resources, including CQ Researcher and Opposing Viewpoints (The links will open in a new tab.)

From My Path, scroll down & click on the Library tile:

  • From the list of all of the KCTCS libraries, click on “Ashland Community & Technical College”

Once on the ACTC Library homepage, if the professor suggests using CQ Researcher:

  • click on "Find Things" > Scroll down to the CQ Researcher OR scroll down. (CQ Researcher is also available in the “Featured Databases” sidebar.)
  • For your work cited page or bibliography, click on the circle labeled "Cite Now" and select MLA, APA, etc. as appropriate. Copy and past the citation into your assignment or an email to yourself for easy access later.

Here are 2 brief videos to help get you started: CQ Researcher's.

If the professor suggests using Opposing Viewpoints:

  • click on "Find Things" > scroll down to the “Opposing Viewpoints (Gale).”
  • For your work cited page or bibliography, see "Cite" to the right of the toolbar above the article.

If you have already logged into MyPath and using the same browser window, you may not need to login again.

If you are accessing the Library's online resources from off-campus, you may be asked for your KCTCS username and password (first initial, last name (suffix Jr, ii, iii, etc. if applicable) and 4 digits. Example: msmithiii0235

If you have additional questions, please send another LibChat, call (606)326-2169, or email AS_library@kctcs.edu during our regular business hours.
