Am I allowed to check out reference books?
Answer
No, most reference books such as dictionaries and encyclopedias are specialty books and can be quite expensive. They are often used by entire classes for assignments/projects, so they must physically remain in the library in the interest of all students, faculty, and staff being able to access them freely.
In some cases, you may make copies of a page or section you need from a book (copyright laws permitting). Depending on what the book is needed for, check-out exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. Please see library staff at the circulation desk for details.
Additionally, you may access reference materials online via the Credo Reference database.
