Answer

When your professor asks for APA Style in-text citations, you need to include the author's last name and the year of publication in the text of your paper.

The APA Style Manual includes the difference between a parenthetical in-text citation and a narrative in-text citation. If in doubt about which to use, check your assignment or ask your professor.

Don't forget, include the complete citation in the works cited page at the end of your paper.

  • Book example: Morrison. (2019). The Source of Self-Regard : Selected Essays, Speeches, and Meditations (First edition.). Alfred A. Knopf.
  • Ebook example: Toni Morrison. (2019). The Source of Self-Regard : Selected Essays, Speeches, and Meditations. Vintage.
